ARC: Make an Appointment with an LA!

The Textbook Distribution Session is Still Open!

Distribution Schedule: Monday-Friday, 10 AM-4 PM
Location: Building #4 (First Floor), Residence Hall, 533 Ji Ming Road

It's important to read the textbook policy and instructions before ordering! For ordering textbooks, you can place orders or submit verification requests until February 10. For picking up physical textbooks or getting verifications, please go to the distribution sessions in Jingyao Residence Hall. Electronic books or coursepacks will be distributed through emails. Contact shanghai.textbooks@nyu.edu with questions.

Announcements for Seniors

Senior Capstone Project Funding

Academic Affairs, the Dean of Arts and Sciences (A & S), and the Dean of Computer Science, Data Science, and Engineering (CS/DS/E) have made funding available for expenses related to Spring 2023 Senior Capstone Projects in any A & S or CS/DS/E major. Business majors enrolled in the Business and Economics Honors Program are also eligible. View the application instructions and submit your funding request to capstone.shanghai@nyu.edu by 5 PM, Wednesday, February 15.

Graduating Seniors: Apply for Graduation!

You must apply for graduation by Wednesday, February 15. You will be asked to verify your major(s) and minor(s) in the application. If you need to update your major(s) and/or post your minor(s), you must first submit them by 5 PM, Friday, February 10.

After filling out the information, you can go ahead and submit your application. The Registrar's Office will update your major(s)/minor(s) in March. If you do not intend to apply for the Spring 2023 graduation, you can update your expected graduation term.

Summer Opportunities

Summer Session Courses are Live in Albert!

Session I: May 23-June 30 & Session II: July 3-August 11

We are offering two 6-week summer sessions where you can take up to 8 credits per session. See the application information and check out Albert for detailed course information. To get your registration hold lifted, review the registration guidance and email your course plan to your advisor. Registration for summer courses will begin on February 13 (New York Time). Apply for the Chinese Language Immersion Program!

Program Dates: May 23-July 21 | Application Deadline: Sunday, February 19
Two levels will be offered: Intermediate & Advanced

SOCS-SHU 310 Summer Practicum Course in New York

Application Deadline: April 15

We offer a 1-credit practicum course for non-US citizen, NYU Shanghai students to be eligible to participate in a full-time internship or full-time on-campus research in the US. We are very excited to announce the Writing & Speaking Partners (WSP) Program (see the video introduction)! We will pair Writing & Speaking Fellows with the students who would like ongoing tutoring on speaking or writing in terms of conversational English skills, presentation delivery skills, and sentence-level writing precision.

Community Engaged Learning

Ethnographic Fieldwork Trip: Making a “Good Life” in Rural Guangdong Province

Organized by the Office of Community Engaged Learning
Dates: April 1-7 | The trip will be led by anthropologist Dr. Liangliang Zhang.

This week-long trip over the spring break will take you deep into one of China’s first self-proclaimed “ecological villages” located in the countryside of Guangdong. You will explore an innovative and multi-layered grassroots community, participate in workshops with local residents and artisans, and gain exposure to ethnographic fieldwork!

NYU Shanghai VPN: We have seamlessly deployed a new Shanghai VPN with ISP independence to have a unified VPN address.

NYU Shanghai Servers: The Administration and Staging Servers environment are available.

Wi-Fi & Shanghai Virtual Computer: Available

Servers in Research Zones: Available

Shanghai High-Performance Computing: The HPC is underway, and more updates will be provided soon.

Printer Services: Printers and scanners are operational and can be accessed in the library area and IT’s Client Service Center on the 5th floor of North Wing, as well as available in the pantry areas in each wing from the 7th to 9th floors.
